Margaret (Peggy) McKay Crowder, of Warm Springs, GA died Tuesday, February 5, 2015 at the Warm Springs Medical Center, Warm Springs, GA.
Peggy was born in Winchester, PA, the daughter of Margaret Burton McKay, and Ret. Lt. Col. Ivor W. McKay, FSA Scot. She was a secretary for the Warm Springs, Greenville and Mountain View Elementary Schools in Meriwether County for many years. She was a member of the Greenville United Methodist Church and a member of the Georgia Teachers Association, as well as the North American Rendezvous Association.
She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas A. Crowder and survived by her children, John (Tammy) Crowder of Warm Springs, Chris (Michelle) Hotard of Pine Mountain Valley, Jeff Hotard of Warm Springs, Charlene (Andy)) Dickens of Andersonville, GA, Master Sergeant USAF, Charles Dennis (Casie) Crowder of Sumter, SC, Mark (Marianne) Crowder of Pine Mountain; Father, Ret. Lt. Col. Ivor W. McKay, Sr., FSA Scot, of Copperas Cove, TX; brothers; John McKay of Warm Springs and Ivor W. McKay, Jr, of Falls Church, VA; sisters-in-law; Linda Meyers and Cynthia Adams, both of Warm Springs; and sixteen grandchildren.
Peggy and her parents were long time members of the original Clan Mackay Society of North America where her Mother served as their Treasurer from the late 1970’s until the early 1980’s. Following in her footsteps, Peggy served as the National Treasurer of the newly formed Clan Mackay Society of the USA from 1996 until 2005.
For many years Peggy and her Mother, (known to all as; Mama Peg), managed the table where Mackay “T” shirts and other related items were displayed at the annual Stone Mountain Georgia Highland Games.
She was a loyal Mackay member and will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known her.
